History

In the Hellenistic period, the King of Bergama II. Attalos (159-138 BC) says to his soldiers, “Go and find me the paradise on earth.” II. Taking into account the strategic importance of the region, Attalos founded a port city here and the city is called “Ataleia” in the name of its founder Attalos. Ateleia means “Attalos Dormitory”.

In and around Antalya, there are two lifestyles that have been floating for centuries. When the Turks first came here, they immediately obeyed the settled order; They established villages, towns and cities. One part of the population continued his life as Konargöçer, as before the Turks came to Anatolia.

They grow animals such as camels and sheep and they live by changing or selling the products they produced with the products of the established people. They produced meat, milk, oil, hair tents and natural root rugs. There would even be cereals and vegetables in narrow areas in the barracks. There were even large Konargöçer groups (tribal, tribe) who raised horses to the Ottoman army.

Manavgat Waterfall
It is located in Manavgat district of Antalya. The waterfall, which has a magnificent nature view, allows you to experience adventure in nature landscapes, and various natural sports such as rafting and canoe can be done in certain stages.

Side Antique City
Side, the most important port city of Pamphylia in ancient times, is located in Manavgat district of Antalya. Side BC. century was a settlement center. The ancient city of Side is a city where Lydians, Seleucus, the Kingdom of Bergama, the Roman Empire and the Cretans of Crete and are known as a trade and port city. B.C. The city, which was built in the 8th century, has many historical buildings that can be visited. Among the structures that can be seen around the ancient city are important works such as city gates, agora, ancient theater, baths, houses, temples, basilica, Apollo Temple, Athena Temple.

Side Museum
The Side Museum, where many works for the history of Side are exhibited, has the works and structures of many civilizations in the Side Museum, which was opened to visitors with the restoration work of the Antique Agora Bath built by the Romans in the region. In the museum, which started to accept visitors in 1960, reliefs, inscriptions, sarcophagi, column headings and altar of Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods can be seen. Most of the finds unearthed in the region as a result of the wide archeology studies carried out in 1947 and 1967 are exhibited in this museum.

Apollo Temple
The temple, which was built in the name of Apollo, known as the god of beauty, art and poetry in Greek mythology, has a special importance among the historical places to visit in Side. Corinth’s columns on the structure have motifs that require very fine workmanship and make him admire. M.S. The building, which was built in 150 years, had a small restoration work in 1990 and became its present form. The temple, which has many historical remains around it, has a unique Mediterranean view and is visited by tourists every period of the year. There are also areas where you can walk around the Apollo Temple, which is immortalized by visitors with its cameras.

Köprülü Canyon National Park
Köprülü Kanyon National Park in Bozyaka district of Manavgat district is 25 km long. Köprülü Kanyon, which influences visitors with its natural beauty, is Turkey’s most popular rafting area. Rafting is a fun and exciting river sport made in high flow rivers with boots called raft.

Oymapınar Dam
It is a dam built on the Manavgat River in Antalya between 1977 and 1984 for the purpose of production of electrical energy. Oymapınar Dam has an imposing and impressive appearance with a height of 185 meters. With its lush nature and lake close to turquoise, it will meet you a very nice sight here. Greyon Canyon

As a result of the melting of the ice masses by separating each other and releasing themselves into the valleys by creating a great energy, it was formed by carving the hearts of the limestone rocks in non -calcareous areas. The length of the canyon is 4 km.

Alanya Castle
The castle, which is one of the symbols of Alanya in Antalya, is located on a peninsula rising up to 250 meters from the sea. The length of the walls is 6.5 kilometers in total. In ancient times, Kalenia was built in the Alanya settlement in the Hellenistic period.

Red Tower
Alanya Port. The octagonal plan, which is the symbol of the city, is the 13th century Seljuk work. Since it was difficult to remove the stone blocks after a certain height during construction, the upper part was made with cooked red bricks and therefore it was named Kızılkule. The sunlight from the hill of the tower reaches up to the first floor. There is a cistern in the middle of the tower. The tower was built to protect the harbor and the shipyard against the attacks from the sea and it was used for military purposes for centuries. The tower, which was repaired in the 1950s, was opened to visitors in 1979 and the first floor was transformed into the Alanya Ethnography Museum.

Incekum Nature Park
It is located in Alanya district of Antalya. It stands out among the important natural beauties of Antalya. Located at a unique point where the greenery of the forests meet the blue of the Mediterranean, the park is one of the ideal points to spend time away from the city life.

Aspendos Ancient City
Aspendos or Belkıs is an ancient city famous for its ancient theater in the village of Belkıs in Serik district of Antalya. It is one of the richest cities in Pamfilya. Since it is on an important trade route and connected to the harbor by Köprüçay River, Aspendos has been among the cities that were wanted to be captured in every age. The most important structure of Aspendos is the theater. It is an open -air theater that has been preserved in the best way among the ancient theaters. This theater is the oldest and strongest example of the Roman theaters in Anatolia with the scene.

Kurşunlu Waterfall Nature Park
It is located within the borders of Aksu district of Antalya. The Kurşunlu Waterfall, where 7 ponds joined and poured, is poured from a height of approximately 20 meters. With its refreshing effect and its view, the waterfall, which is indispensable for Antalya holiday, was opened to visitors in 1991 as a Natural Park.

Göynük Canyon
It is located in Kemer district of Antalya. It is located on the Lycian Way, which is shown as one of the top 10 long -distance hiking routes in the world by various sources. The pond creates an impressive landscape with its lush waters.

Duden Waterfall

Saklıkent Canyon
Saklıkent Canyon, located between Antalya and Fethiye borders, has a total length of 18 kilometers. Agriculture and Livestock
Various agricultural products grow in fertile soil of Antalya region. Among the agricultural products, wheat, barley and oats grow. In addition, cotton, sesame seeds, onions, peanuts, chickpeas, 35 thousand hectares of vegetables grow. It is our most advanced city in greenhouse. Tomatoes, peppers, beans, eggplants, cucumbers, melons and watermelons are grown in 32 thousand hectares of greenhouses. It is sold in Turkey and outside. Antalya is very advanced in fruitism. Most of the bananas, orange grows is Antalya. In addition, apple, pear, plum, quince, peach, apricot, grapes, spindle, carob, cranberry and other fruits grow. Mandarin, lemon, Grapefruit is the main source of income in Antalya. Antalya region, its climatic features rich vegetation brings the richness of wildlife. Deer, fox, marten, squirrels, alageyik, wildlife, coyote, tips, wolves, bear, partridge, quail, steps, wild pigeons, çulluk, turaç, Karatavuk, yellow and crane are the main wildlife of the province.

Protected Plant and Animal Species
– Mediterranean seal, sea turtle and caretta carettas have been protected in these regions.
– In addition, plant species such as cyclamen, iris flowers, sand lily, daffodils and raw flowers are among the species that are protected.

How to Behave in Religious Places
We have to comply with some rules in the mosques where we perform our religious worship,  The mosque is not entered with shoes/slippers etc.,  In women, hair is closed with headscarf/cheesecloth, etc. and the outfit should be covered with the body,  It should not be spoken highly,  Other people should be respectful.

Independence Anthem
The rules that should be followed when reading/heard the National Anthem, which is our national anthem;
– If we have a hat on our heads, we should take it out
– If we are sitting, we should get up and respect
– We shouldn’t leave our place without hearing that the anthem is over
– We should not be busy with anything while singing and listening to the National Anthem
– We should not laugh and not disrespect while singing the anthem

Rules to be Followed in Ruins, Historical Places and Museums
– Do not touch the works and safes exhibited in the museum and the ruins, do not write on them
– Do not make noise
– Listen carefully to your guide and (if any) Museum Training Specialists
– Considering the warnings made in the museum/ruins
– Do not eat anything in the museum/ruin
– Do not throw garbage to places
– Follow the rules of the museum you go to taking pictures in the museum

Local Folk Dance
Antalya region folk dances have a regional feature called “Teke Folklore”. As in the field of music in the region, the influence of the nomads predominates in folk dances. The dance of the region; Mengi, Samah, Teke, Spoon Games and Zeybek, such as dancers are carried out without holding each other dances. In the districts of East of Antalya, Konya spoon air, Bosphorus air, Serenler Zeybeği, Anamur Roads, Silifke’s yoghurt, Algerian weather are stolen. These games are played one by one or collectively.

Local Dishes
The basis of the diet of the nomads determines the nutrients obtained from animal husbandry and wheat. Although a little fresh vegetables are produced on the coastline, wheat and dry vegetables gain weight as they go to the inner regions. It is possible to find all the world cuisine in Antalya in tourist hotels and restaurants. Sport
There are many registered sports clubs and around 200,000 licensed athletes within the provincial borders. In these clubs, football, basketball, handball, volleyball, athletics, wrestling, Judo, karate, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, sutopu and swimming are operating in many sports. Using the name of scorpions in football, Antalyaspor represents the city at the highest level in Turkish football. Antalyaspor plays his matches at the Antalya Stadium of 33,032 people.

Festivals and Festivals
Festivals and festivals are organized in various periods in Antalya.
